Do California residents not have to pay tuition for UCs?

Cat asked:I am interested in UCSD and I’m very confused about the tuition. Is there no tuition for California residents? Only various fees such as housing, books, etc.

You have to pay for tuition, is just a lot cheaper than out of state students.
