I'm not sure about California, but in Connecticut you pay in-state tuition if you have an immigrant visa or are a permanent resident.

All other international students pay out-of-state tuition.

Call the college and check with them to be certain.

No. Not at all. You are not a resident of anything if you are here on a student visa.

No. The three year thing applies to illegal aliens who attended high school in California for 3 years and graduated from a California high school. Essentially it is for those brought in as children. Since this is a huge incentive for people to break the law, I think that should be done away with. However, in answer to your question, no. You can't get 'residence' on a student visa. Otherwise every senior in college would suddenly be a 'resident'. The in state tuition is for people whose parents have paid taxes to the state all of their adult lives.

If you are an illegal alien you get to pay in-state tuition. Of course as an illegal, you are too poor to pay so you'll get a free ride at the CSU.

If you are a legal, international student, sorry, you pay the out of state rate.

No.

1) You have to be a *resident* of California to get in state tuition. You are a resident of a foreign country, on a temporary visa. You are not a resident of California

2) In order to qualify as a resident for in state tuition purposes, you have to be a resident of the state for a certain amount of time for purposes other than going to school. As a foreign *student* you have no residential time that can apply for in state tuition purposes.

Just tell them you are an illegal alien that just hopped the border. They will give you in state tuition and a scholarship.
Perverted I know but welcome to the land of plenty, unless of course you are here legally.
